A STRONGER multi-stakeholder review team consisting of Kent Kuster (Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment) representing state government, Matt Walker (Clean Air Council) representing environment/NGO, and Darren Smith (Devon Energy) representing industry has completed a review of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Bureau of Air Quality’s regulations as they pertain to oil and gas development. The review team met with Bureau staff on July 16, 2015. Also participating were observers from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. The review team will develop a report containing their findings and recommendations for the Bureau. The target date for publication of the review report is December 3, 2015. This review was the first under STRONGER’s Air Guidelines, and the sixth STRONGER review for Pennsylvania. The Commonwealth is to be commended for its commitment to continuous regulatory improvement and the State Review program.
